What Do We Do In A Class?
This depends largely on the client's objectives. A typical one-hour class might include some, or all, of the following activities:
- Warm up routines
- Stretching for suppleness
- Aerobic exercises
- Weight Training for fitness and body toning
- Boxing
- Martial Arts
- Easy to learn practical self-defence moves
Again, depending on the client's objectives, the above activities can be supplements or combined with basic self defence techniques based on the traditional martial arts and modern self defence. These can include defensive stances, the blocking of attacks, releases and evasion. You will then practice counter attacks by punching focus pads and striking shields, learning other hand strikes and kicking bags and pads.
I have a particular interest in developing power and many clients - especially women and children - are surprised at the force they are able to generate by using the correct training and techniques.
How Hard Is The Training?
This is largely for the client to determine in consultation with me. I will always aim to give you a full workout but never beyond your reasonable limits. Classes normally last one hour and can be categorised as a light workout, a moderate work out or high intense interval training. Anyone with doubts about their state of health should consider taking medical advice in advance.
How Big Are The Classes?
I offer one-to-one classes and can take small groups. Where possible, I try to group clients with similar objectives and at similar levels.
Who Comes To The Classes?
My clients include men, women and children aged from 7 to over 70. In the 35 plus years in which I have been teaching they have ranged from accountants, doctors and lawyers to businessmen, builders and members of the Armed Forces. I have also run special classes for nurses, the elderly, scouts, schools and vulnerable adults.
Special Clothes or Equipment?
None, apart from loose fitting clothes
Where are you based?
