Martial Arts
What is Tae Kwon Do Freestyle?
It is a modern form of self-defence which involves training in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Judo, Aikido, Thai Boxing, Western Boxing, Circuit Training and a strong emphasis on Tae Kwon Do, full contact Karate and street self defence plus a lot of stretching and fitness training.
Why is it Called Freestyle Self Defence?
The style is a freestyle because we are very opened minded. We teach traditional and also teach anything that will help you defend yourself, including bits and pieces from other styles which are good self defence techniques. A traditional Karate punch and a boxer’s punch both are practical in different situations.
We will teach you the high kicks of Tae Kwon Do and also the low thigh kicks of Thai Boxing.
Why Practice Freestyle Self Defence?
- Mugging
- Burglaries
- Attacks
- General Harassment
Just a few reasons why to protect yourself and your family, if violence raises its ugly head. Not to mention getting a fit and healthy body, a deeper mental awareness and self control. It is also a chance to learn a practical form of self defence and a better understanding of oneself, and others, and to build self confidence.
Why Do A Traditional Martial Art?
To build a disciplined mind, strong foundations e.g. strong stances and a good sense of judgment. It also teaches the student to be patient, so when the training becomes mentally and physically hard they will persevere and stick with it until they achieve their goals in training.
Classes are a set programme, specially designed by Mr Vigor for Martial Arts. Classes will start with a warm-up, building up to a faster warm-up, to allow the blood to pump to the muscles, so they become warm and more elastic.
Light stretching, arms swings and leg swings, hip rotations, stationary running etc will prepare the body for high kicking.
After the above warm up we will begin the Tae Kwon Do class.
We will finish with a cool down, which consists of light stretching to get rid of waste products, resulting in a build up of lactic acid, which causes fatigue and muscle soreness.
Open 7 days a week, 7am to 9pm. A full time private fitness studio covering Leighton Buzzard, Hemel Hempstead and surrounding area.
I started training with Mr Vigor at the age of 15. It is now 26 years on and I am still training with him. I train in boxing, kickboxing and I have achieved my black belt 3rd degree in tae-kwon- do instructors grade. I have entered tae- kwon-do competitions and full contact kickboxing bouts for Mr Vigor. Over the years I have learned a lot about myself and others I have learned if you work hard you can achieve any thing in life. The best thing I ever did was join Mr Vigor classes.
Mr Terry S. I.T. Black belt 3rd degree
I first started with Mr Vigor in his English contact karate classes approximately 25 years ago. I moved on to his weight training classes, taekwondo and kickboxing boxing. I still train on a one 2 one basis weekly, I can't believe i am still training 25 years on! And I am a confident black belt in taekwondo, I am still learning new skills 25 years on. You learn practical street self defence and get a healthy body in doing so. Thank you Mr Vigor for your guidance it's worked.
